A couple of decades in photography and imaging have taught me one thing:
Reality is what you want it to be.
The old adage of "the camera doesn't lie" doesn't necessarily apply anymore, if it ever did. With the right tools and know-how it could lie, it could fib, it could embellish, emphasize or hide. But more importantly, it can also reveal, enlighten, strengthen and inspire.
The idea of "flexible reality" isn't about obscuring the truth, it's about not being constrained by the old boundaries. It's about using the fusion of creativity and technology to insure that the message dictates perception, not the other way around.
In any design it's the message that matters most. What you're trying to say should be far more important than the mechanisms used to get you there, and that concept guides me whether I'm designing a website, creating graphics or shooting photos.
